Pilot draft. This page covers Bamgbopa's private testing. It will be reviewed and finalised, with our ICO registration number, before Bamgbopa opens beyond the pilot.
About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Total Serenity Ltd (“we”, “us”), the company that runs Bamgbopa. We're a private limited company registered in England and Wales, company number 12791843, with our registered office at 4 Carlyon Mansions, Ealing Road, Wembley, HA0 1HL. When you join, the app asks you to confirm you are 18 or over and to agree to them. Please also read our privacy policy.
Who can use Bamgbopa
- You must be 18 or over.
- Bamgbopa is invite-only. You join through an invitation from someone who knows you.
- One account per person, in your own name. Don't let anyone else use it.
- Keep your email account secure: it's how you sign in.
How introductions work
- You can see your friends, and the people they know. Nobody further.
- To reach someone you don't know, you ask a friend you share. They decide whether to pass your request on, and then the person you asked decides.
- Passing a request on is not a recommendation. It means “I know you both”, nothing more. Bamgbopa introduces people; it doesn't check them.
- Accepting an introduction lets two people talk. It doesn't make them friends on Bamgbopa.
- We can't promise that any introduction will be accepted, or what will come of it.
How asks work
- An ask is how you ask your circle for help finding the right person. You choose who sees it: your friends, or your friends and their friends.
- Friends can reply to you directly. Friends of friends can only offer help through a friend you share, and it reaches you only if that friend chooses to pass it on.
- Asks are for finding people and advice. They are not for adverts, selling, or asking for money, loans or investments.
- An ask is open for a week and can be kept open once for another week. We may pause an ask that has been reported while we look at it, and remove one that breaks these terms.
What you agree not to do
- Put phone numbers, email addresses or links in your profile, your introduction reasons or your asks and replies. First contact on Bamgbopa always goes through a friend.
- Pretend to be someone else, or pose as Bamgbopa or its staff.
- Use a profile photo that isn't of you, or that is offensive.
- Harass, threaten, abuse or discriminate against anyone.
- Send spam, or flood people with requests, or use asks to advertise or sell.
- Scam anyone, ask for money under false pretences, or pressure people to pay upfront.
- Offer or accept payment to pass a request on. Introductions can't be bought.
- Use what you learn about other members outside Bamgbopa in ways they wouldn't expect, such as adding them to mailing lists.
- Copy or scrape the app, interfere with how it works, or try to get around its security.
- Share, ask for or point to sexual material involving children, or use Bamgbopa to groom, exploit or get access to a child. We remove it, ban the account permanently and report it to the authorities. See our child safety standards.
- Use Bamgbopa for anything illegal.
Paid work and money
Requests can be marked as paid work. Any agreement, fee or payment between members is entirely between them. We're not part of it, we don't handle payments, and we don't endorse anyone's services.
Always make your own checks, and never pay anyone you haven't verified. Bamgbopa flags messages that mention money to help you pause, but that is not a guarantee.
Your content
What you write on Bamgbopa (your profile, reasons, asks, replies, messages) stays yours. You give us permission to store it and show it to the people the app is designed to show it to, so that Bamgbopa can work. You're responsible for what you write.
Reports and enforcement
You can block or report anyone at any time. We review reports within 48 hours, and look at reports about money first. We may also pause the app for everyone for a short time, for example to fix a problem, and ask you to update to a newer version when an old one is no longer safe to use. If someone breaks these terms, we may remove content, limit what they can do, or close their account. Where someone may be in danger, we may contact the authorities.
The pilot
Bamgbopa is in private testing. Features will change, things may occasionally go wrong, and the service may be unavailable at times. It's free during the pilot. We provide it as it is, and will do our best to keep it running well.
Our responsibility
We're responsible for running Bamgbopa with reasonable care and skill. We're not responsible for what members say or do, for any arrangement members make with each other, or for losses that weren't foreseeable.
Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit. Your legal rights as a consumer are not affected.
Leaving Bamgbopa
You can delete your account at any time from your profile. Here's what happens when you do. We may close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app before the change takes effect, and ask you to agree to the new version before you carry on using Bamgbopa.
The law that applies
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
